Alt-hiphop artist, Oliver Asadi, releases creative new music video...
"Oliver 'King Lion' Asadi is a creative hailing from the city of Leeds. Gathering influences from Kanye West, M.I.A & Kid Cudi. He combines the elements old eastern ethnic instrumentation with modern sounds to bring an unconventional chaotic atmosphere!"
Today, we get to highlight one of Oliver Asadi's latest music video releases for 'Moonlight' - which is an incredibly artistic visual piece alongside it's audio form. It's dark and ambient in a lot of places but rounds out extremely well between its emotive beat and the airy lyricism.
Lastly, if you're diggin' on what Oliver Asadi is up to - make sure you you throw you him a follow on his social media links and stay up to date with his releases as they drop. You never know what else this dude might have up his sleeve over the next year or so. You can find everything you need, the stream to the music video for 'Moonlight', plus, we got the chance to do an interview with the man himself, which you can read in full, down below! Enjoy!
Is there anything you want to say right off the bat before we start asking questions?
Thanks for featuring me and my work! I am extremely thankful to anyone that showcase my works cause a lot of it pushes boundaries and doesn't follow common themes. Also, I am going to be one of the greatest creatives of all time.
Can you tell us a little about yourself and where you're from? What did you do before you started doing music?
I’m Oliver Asadi, a Creative from Leeds/Wakefield (UK). I’m always creating new stuff all the time whether it be Music, Films, Artwork, etc. I even made a completely new playable card game called Kulo the other day. I’m trying to perfect it so I can pitch it to toy companies and such. Before music, I was making Vlogs/crappy short films on Youtube, handling a wrestling promotion and running a gaming website. You can actually find most of the old videos still on Youtube if you look hard enough lmao
What made you fall in love with music?
Well Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy & Kid Cudi’s Man on The Moon 2 pretty much saved my life, so that like inspired my life. I want to do for other people what they did for me.
We're not asking you to drop a whole bunch of wisdom but what's one piece of advice you would give someone who's just starting to get into the music industry?
I would say try to learn to do as much as you can by yourself. It will save you so much money and will also make your work way more unique. All of the information is out there, you just gotta put in the hours to research and study it. Also even though it’s called the Music Industry, think it more as an entertainment industry. The branding artwork, videos, packaging, marketing, etc matter just as much as the music itself.
I mean it's gotta be my idols Ye, Cudi, M.I.A. and N.E.R.D. but nothing is like a dream, its just more like reality for me now.
What are your plans for this year musically? Are there any upcoming tours/songs/albums that you can tell us about?
Imma just make what feels right to me. I only really wanna release songs which push boundaries artistically. I am working on a album Loveless Jungle, but I have no idea when it will be released. I also recently became the Creative Director of Leeds RAG Fashion Show, so I may be producing an exclusive soundtrack for that.
As always, we want to say thank you to Oliver Asadi for being featured here on 先生Sensei - we appreciate you following the site and the work you create. Congrats on the opportunities that life is throwing at you and keep grinding to achieve more. Let us know if we can ever help out again in the meantime though. Cheers!
